The 6 best ManyChat alternativesfor turning DMs into booked appointments

Six ManyChat alternatives for small businesses whose Instagram and WhatsApp DMs are leads. What decides it: whether you need flows, a shared inbox or an agent that books.

Summarize this page with

You set up ManyChat to send a link when someone comments "PRICE" on your reel. It worked. Now your DMs are full of people asking real questions: is this available on Saturday, do you work in my area, can I book a call?

Some of them are your best leads all month, and your flow wasn't built to have that conversation.

If your Instagram and WhatsApp DMs have turned into a sales channel, this guide explains what ManyChat costs today and compares six alternatives built to qualify leads and book them.

Quick TL;DR
  • How much does ManyChat cost? ManyChat has a free plan for 25 active contacts a month. Paid plans are $17, $39, $99 and $199 a month (Essential, Pro, Business, Advanced), or $14 to $139 a month billed annually, with extra fees if you go over your contacts.
  • Best ManyChat alternative for booking appointments from DMs Flowxperia. An AI agent answers on WhatsApp, Instagram, SMS and your website, qualifies the lead and books on your Google or Outlook calendar. Flat plans from $797 a month, with WhatsApp and Instagram on Growth and up.
  • Best for a team inbox on WhatsApp respond.io or Wati, both built around a shared inbox with AI agents on higher plans or as an add-on.
  • Best budget pick Tidio or Crisp, both with free plans and Instagram and WhatsApp support on paid plans.

Why businesses look for a ManyChat alternative

ManyChat is very good at what it was built for: automated Instagram and Messenger conversations, comment-to-DM campaigns and simple lead capture.

Creators and small brands love it for a reason. Businesses usually start looking around when the DMs stop being fans and start being buyers.

These are the reasons that come up most:

  • Flows break on real questions. A keyword trigger handles "PRICE". It handles "does the 3-bed have parking and can I see it Thursday after 6?" less well. ManyChat's AI Step helps, but you're still building and maintaining flows around it.
  • Booking needs another app. ManyChat lists no native appointment booking on its pricing page. Its app store has a paid third-party Calendly app, so you also pay for Calendly.
  • Costs rise with contacts. Every plan includes a set number of active contacts, and you pay an overage for each extra person you message that month.
  • WhatsApp and AI sit on Pro and up. Free and Essential don't include WhatsApp, SMS or the AI features.
  • No website agent. Leads who find you on Google instead of Instagram still land on a contact form.

If you mostly run Instagram campaigns and send links, ManyChat may still be the best value. If you need leads answered, qualified and booked, keep reading.

ManyChat pricing, explained

ManyChat prices by active contacts, meaning the real people you interact with in a billing month. One person counts once, however many messages you exchange.

PlanMonthlyBilled annuallyActive contacts includedOverage per extra contact (monthly)
Free$0$025Not available
Essential$17$14 a month250$0.10
Pro$39$29 a month2,500$0.05
Business$99$69 a month7,500$0.025
Advanced$199$139 a month25,000$0.004

A few details matter more than the headline price:

  • Channels are capped. Free and Essential connect up to 2 channels, Pro up to 3, and Business and Advanced connect all of them.
  • WhatsApp, SMS and email start on Pro. Instagram, Messenger, TikTok and Telegram work on every plan.
  • AI features start on Pro. That includes AI Step, which you can instruct to qualify leads and handle replies, AI intent recognition and AI replies from your saved business knowledge.
  • WhatsApp messages cost extra. ManyChat passes Meta's WhatsApp fees through from a wallet without a markup. The first 1,000 service messages per WhatsApp number each month are free.
  • There's a trial. You can try Essential or Pro free for 14 days, and the Free plan needs no credit card.

Rule-based flows vs an AI agent that books

Most of the tools in this space started as flow builders: you draw a tree of triggers, buttons and replies. Many now add AI on top. The difference that matters for a business is who does the work when a lead asks something you didn't plan for.

Neither is better for everything. A comment-to-DM giveaway doesn't need an agent. A lead asking about a $5,000 job at 11pm does.

Flowxperia is an AI agent built to convert leads, not a flow builder.

It answers new leads within seconds on WhatsApp, Instagram and SMS, answers questions from your own content, asks your qualifying questions and books the appointment on your Google or Outlook calendar, then follows up until the lead books.

On your website, a live video agent talks to visitors by voice or text.

Plans are flat with no per-contact fee: Basic from $797 a month covers the website agent, and Growth from $1.5K and Scale from $2.5K add WhatsApp, Instagram and SMS.

It syncs leads and meetings to HubSpot, Salesforce, Zoho, Pipedrive, Dynamics 365 and Zendesk, or to any tool through webhooks. It costs more than ManyChat, so it makes sense when each booked appointment is worth real money.

  • Flat pricing, no contact overages
  • Live in about 48 hours
Watch out for
  • Costs more than ManyChat

How to move lead conversations off ManyChat

  1. List the flows that touch leads

Separate the flows that deliver links or run giveaways from the ones where people ask to buy or book. Only the second group needs to move.

  2. Write down your qualifying questions

Copy the questions from those flows, plus what you ask leads on the phone. That becomes your agent's brief.

  3. Connect your calendar and CRM

Hook up Google or Outlook calendars and your CRM. With Flowxperia that takes about 48 hours.

  4. Move WhatsApp first

Connect your WhatsApp number to the new tool, then Instagram, and keep ManyChat running for campaigns while you test.

  5. Compare a month of results

Look at appointments booked and cost per booked lead side by side, then decide what stays.
